Autobiography By Carmen (人・㉨・)♡

So I am here to tell you about myself, so here a few thing about me: My all time favorite bands are My Chemical Romance, Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Blink-182 and Mindless Self Indulgence. My favorite food is ramen and udon noodles. I love reading comic books and anime. My favorite movie is "Scott Pilgrim vs the World".  I also love anything that is black and red, mostly because of Deadpool and Harley Quinn.
But yeah that's a little bit of me I guess. (≖ᴗ≖✿)

The Giver Movie vs the Book

Having recently finished reading the book The Giver by Lois Lowry, we watched the movie adaptation in class. In my personal opinion, I liked the book better for a number of reasons. Maybe the biggest reason was that movie version gave easy answers that book did not. For example, in the book the author left the ending loose but in the movie you find out what happened to Jonas and Gabe. Others changes from book that they made in the movie (and there were many) that really bothered included that they aged up Jonas, how he received memories from the Giver and how he kissed Fiona multiple times (thought it was unnecessary and had nothing to do with the plot) that never happened in the book. The movie basically used Fiona as a plot device to help Jonas which is very antifeminist (and may have been my biggest problem with the movie). They also changed Asher's job for no reason at all (very unnecessary). In addition, while this one is not that big of a deal, I still wish they would of kept in how Jonas and Gabe had light colored eyes instead of having birthmarks. A last thing I did not like/was disappointed about was Fiona's hair. In the movie was a light brown and not bright red like Jonas has described it being in the book. This change was lame to be honest and I thought making Taylor Swift Rosemary really took away from her chapter and was kind of a distractingly bad chose.

Something I did like from the movie is that the chief elder has a bigger part and was basically the main villain. This was a cool creative decision since I wanted to know more about her in the book. Also how the movie visually changes from black and white to complete color I thought was handled well and a truly nice touch to the movie. An additional thing I appreciated about the film was some one the scenes that were not in the book like the dancing scene with Lilly and the one where Jonas and Fiona pretend to sled down the arch. While Taylor Swift was bad, I did approved of some of the other choices for the actors. The actor who played the Giver was particularly good. Over all I did like the book much better than the movie but the movie did have some definite good and bad points but over they both were very good judged on their own.

KBAR The Landscape Of Memory (4/28/16)

Today since we finished The Giver a few days ago we have been reading short stories. The one we read today was called "The Landscape Of Memory."  It was about people who literally never forget anything. As someone who constantly forgets things, this sounds, in concept, like it would be great. I thought this story was really sad but also kind of interesting at the same time. My question is because you never forget, would never forgetting drive one crazy? Some things are better forgotten.

KBAR The Forecast (4/27/16)

Since yesterday we finished The Giver, today we read a short poem named "The Forecast." I thought this poem was really interesting and I liked the message about people's dependence on electronics. It was all quite creepy. My question is how is this poem related to The Giver?

KBAR The Giver (4/26/16)

So here we are: in our final chapters of The Giver Jonas and Gabe experience snow in real life not in a memory. The thing is that they both appear to die or do they? I'm not completely sure if they died or not. But over all looking back I really liked this book and would rate it 7.5/10. My final question is whether Jonas and Gabe are alive or dead?

KBAR The Giver (4/25/16)

In chapter 20 though 22 Jonas and Gabe leave the community. I'm so sad that this book is almost over because it's still really good. My question for this chapter is will they find other people in Elsewhere besides themselves?

KBAR The Giver (4/21/16)

In chapters 19 though 20 Jonas and The Giver are planning on leaving the community and we also find out that Rosemary is The Giver's daughter. This chapter was really interesting and I did not expect the plot twist at the end. My question is what will Elsewhere look like?
